The project
In June 2024, L35 Arquitectos opened its office in Sotogrande marina, on Ribera del Marlin (San Roque, Cádiz). Matter created a bespoke material library for it: a library of materials built into the studio itself and backed by Matter's consultancy service.
L35 is an architecture, urban planning and design studio with offices in Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, Milan, Miami, Mexico City, Bogotá, Santiago, Istanbul and Abu Dhabi. In 2024, according to the studio, it had 24 partners and more than 200 professionals, with projects in 40 countries; its work includes the remodelling of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
The space brings together L35's architecture and interior design studio, the material library, work and meeting areas for reviewing projects with clients, and artworks on display. Having the samples where the design takes place means materiality can be decided with the design team and the client in the room, comparing finishes, textures and colours at full scale before specifying them.
It is an L35 workspace and, unlike Matter's material libraries in Barcelona and Madrid, it is not open to the public: visits are by appointment. Matter looks after it from its Madrid team.
“For Matter, opening this space in collaboration with L35 means getting closer and offering clients a more complete service, with specialised, personalised materials advice from start to finish on every project,” says Jordi Antonijoan, founder of Matter.

Materials
The library holds samples of stone, ceramics, wood, taps and textiles, arranged on wooden shelves, sample trays and a textile rack, so the team can work with the real material on the table.
Matter's consultancy supports every stage of the project, from concept to final details, with specialised, personalised materials advice.
