The new Multiplo collection by Cielo

The Italian brand Ceramica Cielo, known for turning ceramics into pieces with a timeless, contemporary design and a strong identity, offers with Multiplo a system that provides multiple solutions adaptable to any type of washbasin. It is designed by Andrea Parisio and Giuseppe Pezzano, the brand’s art directors, and stands out for an industrial, minimalist aesthetic that brings a contemporary feel wherever it is installed.

In this article we look at how the system works, the configurations it comprises, the sizes and finishes in which it was presented, which washbasins it accepts and what to bear in mind when specifying it in a bathroom project.

A modular system in ceramic and steel

Multiplo is designed as a modular wall-hung system. It has been created in multiple sizes and formats, and consists of a ceramic countertop mounted on a painted steel frame. Cielo presented it in 2018 and in 2019 completed it with Minimultiplo, a compact module designed for particularly small spaces.

The brand defines it as an intelligent system that stages sophisticated contemporary micro-architectures: deliberately simple, linear geometries with a light, horizontal development. Ceramics are at the heart of the project; the steel and the lacquered units support and organise it.

All its possibilities aim to form an articulated system, able to dress the wall with horizontal and vertical elements, in symmetrical or mirrored compositions, with an interplay of solids and voids that gives rhythm to the walls. That is why Multiplo is conceived as a solution for furnishing bathrooms that require maximum versatility and adaptability.

Three main configurations

With few elements, Multiplo allows a multiplicity of combinations. It is organised into three main configurations:

  • Countertop only: the ceramic countertop on the steel frame, with the countertop basin on top. This is the lightest version and the one that accepts the compact Minimultiplo format.
  • With an open unit: the countertop rests on a wall-hung lacquered wood unit without fronts, with open recesses for towels, books or objects.
  • With a drawer unit: the countertop is combined with a wall-hung storage unit, also lacquered, for those who need closed storage.

Multiplo with a wall-hung two-drawer unit in Talco and a black frame.

The three configurations share the same logic: the countertop, washbasin, unit and frame are chosen separately and combined in the colour and position each bathroom requires. Several countertops can be placed on the same wall, with one or two washbasins set on them in different positions.

Sizes and finishes

Each element of the system has its own range of sizes and colours. The table summarises the data with which Cielo presented the collection; the heights are those given in the brand’s product sheets. The countertops measure 40 × 29 cm (Minimultiplo), 50 × 48, 70 × 48, 90 × 48, 120 × 48 and 140 × 48 cm, and the open unit is offered in the five widths from 50 to 140 cm.

The ceramic countertops come in the sixteen shades of the Le Terre di Cielo palette: Talco, Pomice, Brina, Cemento, Basalto, Lavagna, Fango, Cacao, Arenaria, Avena, Muschio, Agave, Lino, Canapa, Cipria and Polvere. These are matt tones which, according to the brand, are inspired by nature.

The units, open or with drawers, are in lacquered wood and come in eight delicate tones from the same range: Talco, Pomice, Brina, Arenaria, Avena, Cemento, Basalto and Muschio. The steel frame and the towel rail are available in Nero Matt and Cemento.

Compatible washbasins and accessories

Multiplo does not have a washbasin of its own: countertop basins from other Cielo collections are installed on its countertops. According to the brand, eighteen models are compatible; the 2021 catalogue listed pieces from the Shui, Shui Comfort, Minimo, Eco, Era, Tino, Tina and Handy series, round, square, oval or rectangular, some with a tap hole.

All the combinations offer the option of adding a towel rail as an accessory, which can be placed on the right, on the left or on both sides. The taps are also versatile: they can be mounted on the countertop or on the wall.

Key points for specifying Multiplo

These are the points worth resolving at the design stage:

  • The washbasin first: the choice of countertop basin determines whether the taps go on the countertop (models with a tap hole) or on the wall, and with them the water connections.
  • Size according to the space: the countertops range from the 40 × 29 cm of Minimultiplo, designed for cloakrooms and very small spaces, to 140 × 48 cm, which takes two washbasins.
  • Storage: the countertop-only version leaves the wall clear; the open unit offers open recesses and the drawer unit closed storage.
  • Colour in layers: countertop, washbasin, unit and frame are chosen separately, so you can work in a single tone or combine contrasts.
  • Towel rail and taps: the side of the towel rail and the position of the taps should be fixed before the installation is finalised.

Cielo conceives Multiplo as a cross-cutting solution, suitable both for homes and for contract projects of any size.

Ceramica Cielo, from Fabrica di Roma

Ceramica Cielo is an Italian manufacturer of bathroom ceramics based in Fabrica di Roma (Viterbo), which presents its products as ‘hand made in Italy’. Andrea Parisio and Giuseppe Pezzano have been its art directors since 2015 and, in addition to Multiplo, have designed collections such as Delfo and the Tino bowl, one of the washbasins compatible with the system.

Epilogue (2026): in its 2021 catalogue, Cielo extended the Multiplo countertop finishes to the gloss tones of Le Acque di Cielo, which can be combined with the matt tones of Le Terre di Cielo. Today the brand also offers them in its Essential Colors range.

Frequently asked questions
