The project
Cremyco Fillings is a family business in Sant Quirze del Vallès (Barcelona) that makes chocolate creams, coatings and decorations for artisan and industrial customers. In 2021 it renovated its 520 m² offices with an interior design project by Miriam Barrio Studio, the Barcelona studio of interior designer Miriam Barrio.
According to the studio, the company had decided to reinvent itself, and the new office design reflects that. The change of strategy led to a complete change of layout: the partitions between offices were removed to create a more open space and encourage communication between teams.
The piece that organises the whole is a central volume of translucent polycarbonate with openings framed in birch wood. These openings act as windows and, at the same time, as places to work and rest, and they fully open up views towards the warehouse on the ground floor. The studio also considered the experience of customers and suppliers, with several waiting areas facing the warehouse, which it describes as “the heart of Cremyco”.
From the entrance and throughout the space, industrial materials —the metal staircase and shelving, the corrugated sheeting— keep the essence of a factory and warehouse. Alongside them, the project constantly nods to the product: following the aesthetics of the brand's logo, the studio worked on the colour range, the shapes and the combination of materials to evoke chocolate flakes, from the vinyl flooring to the porcelain stoneware of the communal kitchen counter.
Textiles bring warmth to an industrial base. The textile workshop Marcasal made the curtains and roller blinds in a russet (caldera) colour, upholstered the walls of the meeting room and of a small workspace in the same colour, and made the white custom cushions for the glazed area and the entrance benches.
In 2024, the magazine Proyecto Contract (no. 209) included Cremyco among the featured works in its report on Miriam Barrio's studio, with photographs by Elton Rocha.

Materials
The offices nod to the factory with an industrial aesthetic: corrugated sheeting, metal mesh, a metal staircase and shelving. The central volume combines translucent polycarbonate with birch wood frames and reveals the warehouse on the ground floor.
In reference to the product, Matter Barcelona Rels Rosa porcelain stoneware was selected, with its distinctive pink colour and black fragments that resemble pieces of chocolate. According to the studio, the same idea of chocolate flakes guided the choice of the vinyl flooring, by Tarkett according to Missana, and of the various porcelain stoneware pieces on the communal kitchen counter.
The russet curtains, blinds and wall upholstery are by Marcasal. The technical lighting is by Exenia, which links its M2 and Unitrack systems to the project, and the Ara armchair and sofa and the Block sofa are by Missana.

Materialboard
Chocolate Chunks
An interplay of textures and contrasts is evident in the colour palette chosen by Miriam Barrio for the interior design of the Cremyco Fillings offices, on which we based this materialboard.
Its design is led by Venetian terrazzo in a contemporary reinterpretation, in Antracita and Rosa tones from the Matter Rels collection, in a 60x120cm format. Its geometric patterns become a graphic device, where colours and shapes blend with creative intent and accentuate the character of the composition.
